It’s important to remember the serif. The feet, the bowl, the ear of the “g” and who could forget, the ligature. A well designed serif is a beautiful thing. It’s tempting to fall into the title of “typo-file” as a designer, but there is a crucial case to be made for the Serif that involves everyone.

This post is more of a reflection of my journey through user experience design and getting a better sense of what’s to come in this exciting realm. When all is considered, UX/UI is a rather new label, but an existing concept.

If you’re a designer who’s ever worked in web and you’re not using Chrome, I honestly wonder how you do it. Or even why you do it because Chrome is such a useful and powerful browser. One aspect of the developer community that I’ve always really respected, is the selfless drive to improve things. This is what really sets Google apart from Apple, Google encourages people to disrupt the current structure to make it better

Attraction to strangeness, or perhaps curiosity as to why it's different. Not every human feels this tug, but for those who describe themselves as a "creative" it's often a common denominator. Perhaps the difference provokes you to consider another solution, a way to solve the internal and external concerns that are being grappled with.

Music in 2018 brought creativity, emotional intelligence, openness, and experimental advances. This gave way to a fantastic 2018 listen. Here are the 10 that personally found their way into my ears, head, and heart.

Obama, Clooney, Clinton, Putin; they all need their picture taken. Whether it be for an article, editorial, magazine cover or even personal portrait, every one of these figures has to trust someone to complete this surprisingly daunting task. Conceptually, that's not a shocking reality, though it's often taken for granted. These beautiful portraits of leaders all requires an artist behind the lens.

SF Design week. It’s a tumulus time where every walk of design life comes together to share, explore, and better understand, “what’s new?”

It transcends networking and really helps to inspire and perhaps re-light that design fire. There were so many fascinating and stimulating components to the event that it’s hard to choose the biggest take away. 

"It's April." I say begrudgingly. Yes, it's not halfway through the year, but it might as well be. It's all spinning on so rapidly, and with that some of the greatest music has been produced so far. In the last month alone, countless of my favorite bands have released music and I can hardly keep up. Thank goodness my commute is long so I can cram all the listening in. So here's my top list so far, sure to change, and sure to stay the same come the end of 2018.
